Biography

Anchor 1

When I was a child, my favourite toys consisted of a pair of plastic scissors, glue, and some cardboard. I was accustomed to gather old park waste which, believing to have carried some kind of value to me, rested upon the ground floor of my building. With only these things, I aspired to build upon manifolds of each object’s aesthetic. I witnessed each experiment as an abstraction, which transcended the object itself. It was this conception, which allowed me to bridge the gap between extant idea and innovation. Sometime later, having been strongly encouraged to pursue a career in Design, I successfully enrolled at the University of Technology Antonio Jose De Sucre. I, then, successfully completed a Superior Technician degree in Industrial Design in 2000. This degree built upon my innate ability to think critically and constructively about space, and laterally beyond mere design fundamentals. Henceforth, I travelled to Europe and sought to learn its history. I travelled from Scotland, England, Italy, Holland, Spain, Poland and France. Travelling gave me the opportunity to dwell in different cultures and be exposed to a plethora of iconic designers I had studied in Venezuela. In 2007, I began to study Product Design at the Metropolitan College of Glasgow in Scotland, which enabled me to further investigate new technologies, methodologies and contemporary designers. Having successfully completed my certificate of Product Design in the United Kingdom, I decided to travel to Australia to seek further opportunities. I studied a Diploma of Product Design, completing in 2010, at the Sydney Institute of TAFE, Lidcombe Campus.  Upon this completion, I was granted a Distinction of Interior Design Award for the competition ‘Floored’ in 2010. Thence, I have participated within Melbourne’s awards winning VIVID Furnitex and Fringe Festival 2011, 2012, 2013, 2016 and again, in 2012 Melbourne’s VIVID Furnitex, Sydney Fringe Festival 2014 and Workshoped Sydney Supa Centre 2016.

DESIGN IS LIFE

I usually utilise cardboard to elaborate the mocks, I like to work in direct 3D to see instantly the shape and form of the object.
Sometimes I draw sketches but cardboard is the best for prototypes.
I can feel it, I can touch it, I can observe the aspect of the objects and from there I can determine what is needed to change or how I can improve the piece, could be functionality or aesthetic.
